Ellis Pottery of High Ham

I am a semi-professional potter based in High Ham, near Langport. With the help of my wife, Sara, I produce a range of functional kitchenware, together with a more limited selection of ornamental pieces, made using traditional techniques. My work is all hand-thrown and no two are exactly the same. Pots are all high fired to Cone 10 in a self-built gas-reduction kiln using natural glaze materials including wood-ash, which provides unique and often unpredictable results. Although my pottery continues to evolve as I explore the endless possibilities that this craft offers, the theme of ‘functionality’ has remained throughout and it is this that ultimately drives the design.
