Langport & District History Society
We organise a programme of talks and visits, we mount exhibitions, and we do research into local history. We have a collection of digital photographs, and in 2013 we published a book of them, called Langport & Huish Episcopi through time, which is available from our Secretary. We also publish an annual compilation of articles of local history interest called Level Talk, which is free to members.
Visiting speakers are invited to give illustrated talks on subjects of historical interest, either about the local area, or more generally.
Our talks are held in Langport Library, Whatley, Langport. They start at 7.30 pm on the first Monday in the month, except if that is a Bank Holiday, when we meet a week later, and July and August when we don’t meet.
Refreshments are available before each talk, which gives time to chat informally over a cup of tea or coffee with the speaker and other members. Talks are free to members. Non-members are very welcome, £2.00 per talk.
