South Somerset District Council is offering help for small businesses to improve their profile on the internet and encourage more visitors into town centres.
A programme of free training will be running throughout September and October to businesses in the following towns: Wincanton, Castle Cary, Bruton, Milborne Port, Chard, Crewkerne, Ilminster, Langport, Somerton, South Petherton and Martock.
The training is aimed at small businesses but we would also welcome anyone from the towns listed above who are thinking about starting a business too.
The training is run by Cosmic, who are an IT business which specialises in website development, IT training courses, business consultancy, tech support, digital marketing and search engine optimisation.
Councillor Angie Singleton, Chairman of the Market Towns Investment Group said, “An audit to assess the digital presence of businesses in town centres showed there was a need for business training to enable small businesses to have well-considered and a targeted marketing on websites and social media.
“Over 70% of consumers use the internet for customer service enquiries, so hopefully the Digital Marketing training will empower businesses to reach customers and bring success to help promote our towns and drive footfall.”
The courses range from digital strategy to GDPR and from basic web design to visual social media and blogging.
