Langport Town Council was very sad to hear of the recent death of Chris Osborne.
Chris served as a Town Councillor for over forty years and had been Chair of the council for 10 years. He made a real contribution to the Langport Community and his knowledge and experience was sadly missed when he finally resigned from the council.
Among his achievements, Chris was instrumental in saving the Drainage pump which now sits in the Walter Bagehot Town Garden and his dedicated to him.
It was his background in engineering that first brought him to Langport, and he was personally involved in saving Langport from flooding in the early 1960s. An information board tells the story of ‘the pump that saved Langport’, and how Chris saved the pump.
The Town Councillors would like to express deepest sympathies to Chris’s family at this difficult time.
