Drivers needed

community transport

Do you like driving? Can you spare a few hours a week?

South Somerset Community Transport are currently looking to recruit drivers in the Langport area, particularly for the LINKS vehicles. Drivers are needed to take people to medical appointments, Lunch Clubs and to the shops.   The more drivers they have, the more responsive the service can be.  You could really make a difference.

LINKS Community Transport

There are two types of position. One involves driving a wheelchair adapted LINKS vehicle – full training is given in all aspects of this. You work to a schedule of journeys in the Langport and Somerton area which is sent to you in advance, and you are paid for the hours that you work. The hours are negotiated, and can be up to 2-3 days a week, depending on the demand and driver availability. The service operates Monday to Friday only. Payment is at the rate of £7.47 per hour.

Community Cars

Drivers are also needed who use their own cars to take clients who do not use a wheelchair to medical appointments. These can be in the Langport and Somerton area as well as further afield. You are reimbursed for your fuel costs.

All drivers require a DBS check which is carried out at the point of application. For more information please contact Victoria Butcher at South Somerset Community Transport on 01935 477399.
